What Microsoft announced
Microsoft’s October 8 announcement describes Dynamics 365 CRM context in Teams, including connected account channels and pre-meeting information. It also describes Copilot skills that can help sellers review account context and propose CRM updates. These are Microsoft’s descriptions, not capabilities we have tested.

Which parts are in preview
The announcement identifies the CRM-in-Teams experience as public preview. It describes the new skills as generally available in Cowork, while Autopilot is private preview and Code uses the Frontier Program. Sales Development Agent is separately listed as public preview, with Copilot-credit consumption scheduled to begin November 16, 2026. Do not assume that one access status applies to the entire announcement; verify tenant eligibility, licensing, permissions and current commercial terms.
Why this matters for a small sales team
Our take: bringing a customer record into the conversation can reduce the need to reconstruct context, but it does not resolve whether a suggested update is accurate. Start by reviewing one meeting brief against its approved sources. Keep tentative buyer statements distinct from commitments and have the account owner approve any record change.
A useful pilot boundary
Choose one account and a defined question for a controlled evaluation rather than enabling autonomous outreach as a first step. Have the administrator document what can be read, what can be changed and who reviews each action. Treat the proposed pilot as a workflow test, not evidence of improved pipeline or revenue. This coverage was published October 20 and reports the October 8 announcement, not a launch today.
