Sales management

Prepare a pipeline review around evidence and next steps

Build a weekly opportunity review that distinguishes recorded facts, rep judgment, and missing buyer evidence.

THE PRACTICAL TAKEAWAY

Use AI to surface questions for the review rather than produce an unsupported forecast.

Editorial workflow guide · AI-assisted preparation · Not a hands-on product test. How we work

Choose a consistent weekly snapshot

Use the same fields and cut-off time each week: owner, stage, amount, expected close date, buyer next step, last interaction, and known blocker. Keep a snapshot before changes so the manager can see what moved.

Ask AI to identify missing actions, overdue dates, and contradictions between stage criteria and the available notes. A positive conversation does not by itself establish purchase authority or a confirmed decision date. Separate the rep’s forecast judgment from the evidence supporting it.

Organize by decisions the team must make

Group opportunities into those needing a buyer action, an internal decision, a missing owner, or a stage correction. Give each record a short review question. The manager should be able to resolve a queue, not read a generated essay about every deal.

Avoid unsupported win probabilities or a new forecast total derived from narrative tone. If you already use a forecast method, document its assumptions and keep it separate from AI summaries. A more confident sentence does not improve the quality of the underlying evidence.

Close the meeting with ownership

Record the agreed action, owner, and due date for each reviewed opportunity. Make stage or amount changes through your existing CRM process. Keep disagreements visible until the responsible person resolves them.

Measure the proportion of opportunities with current next steps, stage corrections, and overdue commitments. Track how long the review takes and whether it reduces follow-up confusion. Revenue outcomes need longer observation and can be influenced by lead mix, seasonality, and changes in the offer.

Questions for the weekly review

  • What did the buyer actually agree to do next?
  • Which close dates lack supporting buyer evidence?
  • Where is an internal blocker stopping progress?
  • Which records should change stage or leave the active pipeline?
  • Who owns the next action, and when will it be checked?

A prompt to adapt

Review this anonymized pipeline snapshot using the supplied stage definitions. Identify missing evidence, overdue actions, contradictory notes, and questions for the account owner. Keep forecast judgment separate from facts. Do not invent win probabilities or buyer commitments.

Use fictional or anonymized examples while testing. Add your approved business rules before using a draft.
